Try subbing the 1 cup ketchup for 3/4 cups ketchup and 1/4 cup BBQ sauce for some extra pop... you will not be disappointed!!!

This is an easy one to add to my book! I was looking for something to replace the canned version that I was craving and needed to be able to recognize all the ingredients. I did use some barbecue sauce in with the ketchup and used both a green pepper and the better part of an onion. Thumbs up from me and my husband.

Try adding Chili Sauce instead of the ketchup. My Mom always did...we love it...I've never tried sloppy joes with lemon juice and/or vinegar.

I literally made this recipe a couple hours ago and it was delicious. It reminds me of the evenings we had sloppy joes as kids. I did not add the vinegar (because I didn't have any) and added 1 tbs of worcestershire sauce, and also followed the suggestion of adding 1/4 c bbq sauce. I also added in a small tomato just because I remember them having chunky tomatoes. But I'm sure the original recipe is delicious also.

Husband loves Sloppy Joes. Not my favorite and am usually a scratch cook, however, always used canned sauce for Sloppy Joes. Decided to try this recipe... terrific!! Used a whole onion and a bit of sweet red pepper. Also used 1/4 cup BBQ sauce as well. Never to use a can again! So quick and easy and delicious!
