 Leslie Pfaff (Nevada) says:
This would be a good recipe if you would just change the meat from ground beef to italian sausage. It changes it from "ok" to great. If you are just going to use ground beef than why bother with all the ricotta and parmesan and just add cheddar cheese?
Oh, a pinch of nutmeg in the cheese filling really brings out the cheese flavor.

Some people don't eat pork so ground beef is a welcome option.
I cook my lasagna noodles before building the layers.

I love this recipe. We stick with healthier beef and use 93/7 ground sirloin. It's amazing!

This was very convenient as I did not have a lot of time. I made it in two disposable cake pans, used 3/4 beef, 1/4 ground turkey and added some fresh basil and oregano, plus a sprinkle of granulated garlic to the cheese mixture.

I did not try this recipe but one of the reviewers said the lasagna was bland when they used ground beef but the next time they made it they used Italian sausage and that really lifted it up as far as taste is concerned.

When I make lasagna and are use ground beef I prepare the beef like I would if I was making meatballs then I fry it in the pan - that's how you get a "not bland" flavor in the lasagna.

The hardest part about making meatballs is rolling them and frying them. All I have to do is season the beef. Like I would if I was making meatballs and fry it. I never use unseasoned ground beef in a lasagna.
