EASY PORK CHOP AND APPLE BAKE
Allow one large 1/2" thick chop and one medium apple per person.

Slice apples thin and place half on bottom of baking pan. Place salted chops on apples. Place another layer of apple on top of chops. Sprinkle lightly with brown sugar (about 1 tablespoon per apple). Place in hot oven, 400 degrees for 45 minutes. Remove and baste with own liquid. Cover and bake another 30 minutes. You may need to add 2 or 3 tablespoons water to baste chops with.

Easy Pork Chop and Apple Bake

This sounded interesting. As usual on the first try I followed the recipe exactly. The apples needed more cooking after the first 45 minutes, but by the time the next 30 were up the chops were way overcooked. The apples made it tasty but how to get the apples cooked properly without overcooking the chops!

Gretchen: Why don't you try putting the apples in the bottom of the pan with a small amount of water and let them cook 15 minutes or so before adding the chops and the next layer of apples? I have not personally tried this, but I think it could work! If you try it, please post your comments!

When I made this, I cut the apples & added about 6 tbsp of water & baked @ 400°F for 15 minutes. I then removed about 1/2 of them & made sure there was an even layer of apples on the bottom, placed the pork chops on top, then covered the chops w/the remaining apples. Sprinkled the brown sugar (a little more than called for) & followed the rest of the recipe. The apples were so soft & caramelized, the chops were moist, & the meat fell right off the bone.

Our favourite pork chop recipe! Haven't been able to have chops any other way. My wife and I are on weight watchers and this is a good low point recipe to use when making chops. For weight watchers point chops and sugar, substitute the table spoon of sugar for tea spoon of sugar and you're on your way :D Thanks for this recipe, it has become a friend & family favourite when they visit!

Flavorful and easy! I added applesauce as the liquid, ground black pepper on each side of each chop, and doubled the brown sugar. Baking only took 45 minutes at 400*. I served this with a savory cous cous and steamed broccoli. Everyone loved it.

Went looking for a recipe for Baked Apples and Pork Chops and found this one. I cannot say enough good things about it. Absolutely delicious. I did bake the apples for 15 minutes. before adding the pork chops like others suggested. The Pork Chops and Apples had the best flavor. My husband and I decided it was the best Pork Chop recipe we have ever had. It is also very easy to make.

This recipe is awesome. I did the same thing with putting the apples in 5-6 tablespoons of water, then baking for 15 minutes first. Along with the brown sugar, I also put in a bit of cinnamon. This is the best recipe I've found on this site (and I've had some good ones)!!

This was FANTASTIC and a KEEPER! I used 2 sweet and 2 sour apples. I pre-cooked the apples a bit as many suggested and then cooked the chops 45 minutes uncovered and 20 minutes covered. I think the next time I will add some thyme to this. My husband and I LOVED this recipe!

Love this recipe! I layered the apples with a dash of brown sugar, then layered the salted pork with a dash of sage and a few thinly sliced pieces of Brie. I add a small amount of oil on each layer. I repeat both of these one more time and then arrange a few pieces of apple and Brie around the top to make it look pretty and into the oven it goes!

I tried this recipe tonight and thought it was very good, the only thing I might say that's negative is the chops ended up being somewhat over-cooked and dry, I think by cutting the time down to 45-50 minutes, still following the steps with basting, and covering, they would be nice and juicy.

Quite tasty. I had to decrease cooking time to about 45-50 total as my chops were quite thin. I also seasoned pork with a hint of pepper and garlic powder as well as salt. I browned chops in a hint of canola oil and a few slices of onion before baking. I removed cover for the last 10-15 minutes of baking and basted every five minutes. Like many others, I added the suggested water(fourth of a cup) and baked apples with cinnamon and brown sugar fifteen minutes before adding pork. I threw the few onion in the baking dish as well. We enjoyed tremendously!

Want to start by saying I usually prepare apple pork chops with a different recipe, involving more work as well as more calories. This sounded less time consuming so I gave it a try. I did pre-baked the apples as suggested, also used applesauce as mentioned. A delicious low calorie dish that was approved by the whole family (kids too).

Easy recipe and very tasty. I did bake the apples for 15 minutes first and they were nice and soft when eating. Thanks for the tip.

It was real good. First time. Wife loved it too. Instead of water I used cider. I sliced the apple then cut out the core. Easy breezy. The wife got home from work and dinner was ready. We will eat it again.
