BAKED BARBECUE BEEF SHORT RIBS
1 c. ketchup
1/4 c. finely chopped onion
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 drops Tabasco sauce
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. packed brown sugar
2 tbsp. vinegar
1/2 c. water
3 lbs. short ribs, beef

Combine ketchup, brown sugar, onion, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco with 1/4 cup water and 1/4 teaspoon salt in saucepan. Simmer gently 10 minutes. Sprinkle remaining 1 1/4 teaspoon salt evenly over ribs. Arrange fat side down of ribs in shallow baking pan. Brush with 1/3 of sauce.

Place in hot oven, 400°F, to brown (about 35 to 40 minutes). Baste ribs with sauce 2 or 3 times during browning.

When ribs are brown, brush with remaining sauce and add 1/4 cup water to the pan. Cover tightly - return to oven and bake until tender; about 1 hour.

Thank you so much for your recipe. I prepare it just today and so sad to say "1 slice left for me" but I was very happy because they like it very much, everybody wants more and more. I almost double the quantity of your ingredients because it wasnt enough to my company hahaha but still 1 slice left for me. I will do it one more time. Thank you so much. Eman

This was a wonderful base recipe. I added a few spices that I prefer to taste to the sauce but everything else kept the same. It was fantastic and very easy.

OMG!! These ribs were soooooo darn good! Can't believe I found a short rib recipe that I actually love. I sprinkled some salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder on the ribs then brushed on some sauce. Absolutely LOVE the sauce. Haven't made a good homemade sauce in a long time. Made a double batch just for dipping. I'm gonna try this winner sauce on pork ribs, burgers, hot dogs, and steak. Will definitely be posting my results. BTW, I didn't have any Tabasco, so I sprinkled a bit of cayenne in the sauce, but I didn't taste any kinda spicy, but that was ok with me. Don't think you really need the Tabasco. Thanx for your 'WINNER! WINNER! SHORT RIB DINNER!!

I'll be trying your sauce recipe tomorrow on pork spareribs. Will be applying some seasonings/dry rub on the ribs, then after ribs have browned, I'll pour on the sauce. BTW, this sauce doesn't need to cook any more once you apply it on fook that's already done. If it cooks too long, it will clump up and it'll look like chunks of tomatoes.

My spareribs came out very good. My grandsons really liked them. I made a double batch of course so they were very saucy--just the way I like 'em. Can't wait to try sauce on baby backs and burgers.

I only wish I had more pieces of the short ribs. This was delicious, great spices the thicknesses of the juice, not bad at all. Next time I will have more ribs. Using a cast iron skillet worked fabulously and it didn't take long to prepare or cook. Awesome my dog worked on the bone as if it wasn't another day. Absolutely fab this dish. Thanks soooooo, so much.

I added a little minced garlic to the sauce and didn't add Tabasco but I agree with the other reviewers that this sauce turned out amazing... it would be wicked good on Burgers or pork ribs as well! Great recipe and easy for a rookie like me to make!

I'll never make this again. Followed the recipe to the letter and I am an experienced cook. Sauce tasted like ketchup. Meat was tough. Ill stick to long, low temp baking using a good quality bottled suse or a better homemade one and finishing the baking wit high temp and basting . I cant imagine what any of the other commenters liked about this recipe
