SWEDISH MEATBALLS AND GRAVY
MEATBALLS:

1 lb. ground beef
2 slices white bread
1/4 c. milk
1 sm. onion, grated or 2 tbsp. dried minced onion
1 egg
1 tbsp. parsley, finely chopped or 1 tbsp. dried parsley
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 tsp. ground allspice
4 tbsp. (1/2 stick) butter

GRAVY:

2 tbsp. flour
1 1/2 c. canned beef broth
1/4 - 1/2 tsp. soy sauce
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
Salt & pepper

Soak bread in milk, then use your hands to mix the two together until the mixture has the consistency of a thick batter. Add meat, onion, egg, parsley, cloves and allspice mixing thoroughly. Shape into tiny balls. Melt butter in a large skillet and brown meatballs on all sides. Remove meatballs from skillet with slotted spoon.

Thicken butter remaining in skillet with flour. Slowly add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and 1/4 teaspoon soy sauce. Cook over low heat, stirring until thickened and smooth. Taste to see if you want to add another 1/4 teaspoon soy sauce and 1 teaspoon salt and pepper.

Place meatballs in gravy, cook, covered over medium-low heat for 10 minutes or until heated through. Have over rice or noodles. Serves 4.

Swedish Meatballs and Gravy

This was delicious! I didn't make the meatballs, only the gravy because I had planned on making some meatballs we bought from ikea and it turned out that we didn't have the gravy that we normally had on hand. So I did a desperate search for a quick Swedish gravy recipe and all the recipes cooked the meatballs with the gravy which was quite frustrating. Finally I found this one and it worked great! It was really easy and quick and is made with ingredients we had on hand. It was the first gravy I had ever made from scratch so I was nervous but it turned out to be a hit! I just baked the frozen meatballs, threw a double batch of gravy together, tossed the meatballs and gravy together, and served it with mashed potatoes and peas on the side and it was perfect. And I'm guessing that it would be great with the meatballs from this recipe, but can't be sure because I haven't tried it yet. 5 stars for the gravy anyhow!

It was tasty! My only complaints are that I didn't have much butter left over to mix the flour with and some of my meatballs fell apart (but I'm not the best cook) :)
Otherwise very flavorful and easy!

I love to cook and had a craving for some Swedish Meatballs. lucky i found this recipe; now I didn't make the meatballs (already had frozen ones) but I did make the gravy. the gravy was absolutely delicious. I did add a 3rd tbsp of flour because the sauce wasn't quite thick enough for me. As a whole this recipe was very short and sweet lol. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Made this today, meatballs have great texture the only thing that I did different to the meatballs is I added some salt and pepper. The gravy has a great flavor as a personal preferance I added a little milk to make it a little creamier. Wonderful taste on the gravy and the meatballs. This is for sure a keeper thanks for sharing.

Everyone enjoyed! My daughter said how is it? I replied it is good. After she tried it, she said, this isn't good, this is DELICIOUS! Even the gravy was a nice consistency. Recommended!
