RECIPE COLLECTION
“SHEPHERD'S PIE (WORKING MOM'S)” IS IN:

SHEPHERD'S PIE (WORKING MOM'S)
1 lb. ground beef, browned, drained
1 can mixed veggies (corn, peas, carrots, beans) drained
1 jar brown gravy or mushroom gravy
Potato flakes 4-6 servings
salt, pepper, paprika, parsley
milk and butter for potatoes

This is the working mom's version. You can have it on the table within an hour.

1. Brown the beef, sprinkle garlic powder, salt and pepper. Drain fat.

2. Add the drained veggies and jar of gravy to meat.

3. Mix together and put in round casserole dish.

4. Make potato flakes, 4 servings, according to directions. If you are making more than 4 servings, then add more veggies and gravy and put in oblong baking dish and make 6 serving of potato flakes.

5. Spread the potatoes on top of the beef mixture and sprinkle with paprika and parsley.

Bake 350°F for 25 minutes.

I've also used ground turkey with turkey gravy.

Beth, Thank you for going right to the point. Often I have wanted to cook something that I had as a child yet can't remember the temp, How long and sometimes the ingredients. So I come here and look for a like recipe. It gets so frustrating when all I want to know is that amount of time to steam a lobster period not how to make a total rebuild of the lobster by adding 5 other ingredients. Also, I would like a section with meals for one. It's hard to shop and cook for myself without having to buy a twenty pack of chicken parts.

I'm on a roll! My husband is a picky-picky eater & he ate 2nds of the Shepherds Pie which is an indication I fixed a 5-star meal. The last Cooks.com meal I fixed he had 2nds too. Normally he rarely finishes anything I make. I used frozen (thawed) mixed vegetables, added some chopped onions & about a heaping teaspoon of home-made Tony Chacheres Cajun Seasoning.

This recipe is a great time saver! I have made it with both ground beef and turkey and it turns out delicious either way. The potatoes are so creamy and comforting, you'll want to make this again and again.
