Ooey-Gooey Butter Cake

This is St. Louis's gooey butter cake. These same ingredients can be used for a 13x9 AND a 9x9 pan. "Crust" part goes on bottom and a bit up side. May not take 40 minutes. Use more powdered sugar (sprinkled through a little strainer)sprinkled over the top of both cakes. This way there's one to take--one to keep...or both to keep and eat!!!!!!

I modified this recipe by using 1/4 cup pineapple juice and 1/2 stick of butter, then adding crushed pineapple. It is so yummy!

This was a very easy cake to make. I added a tsp water to the cream cheese mixture to thin it a little. Wonderful.

This was a requested cake by a fellow co-woker to make for him. I had never heard of this cake before but I was able to find this recipe and I am glad I did but not as GLAD as he is and the others he shared it with. Now I have another request to do it again...Thanks for sharing.

This is an easy and delicious sweet treat. I also use other flavors of cake mix - lemon is a tasty favorite in the summer.

Awesome recipe, quick and easy. My family likes the lemon cake mix best used in this recipe, they say it's the best tasting lemon bars ever. Have used Yellow & Chocolate cake mixes also which both are good, but the Lemon is our favorite.

I loved this cake, ever since I tried it in a steakhouse. I just got to have the recipe! you know, you can modify it a bit, by topping the cake with a light brown sugar butter mixture. YUM!

make sure that the butter and cream cheese are at room temp before you start or they will not blend properly with the other ingredients

Although this was good, this is NOT a true St. Louis style gooey butter cake. First of all, it is too "cake-like" and not the chewy gooey butter cake that true St. Louis bakeries make. Kind of bummed as I was making it as a surprise for my husband and sons. Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty sure the entire thing will be eaten! I will try another recipe that I found that seems a lot more time-consuming. Could be worth it though! I know I will not make this again
