KAHALA'S FLUFFY CHOCOLATE
FROSTING

You may have to make extra. Kids love it on "themselves", cake, or anything else. I like the ease and lack of trouble in preparation.

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, dark looks best
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup whole milk (or more)
1 tbsp. vanilla or 2 tsp. your favorite extract
1/4 tsp. salt

Mix butter, cocoa powder, and sugar in medium mixing bowl. Slowly add milk and extract. Add more milk a tablespoon at a time until desired texture and volume is reached.

I had to use 1/3 cup plus 4 tablespoons of milk to make it spreadable. The taste was fantastic but I forgot to add salt.

I used a little more than 1/3 cup milk and the frosting was perfect. The same consistency of store bought. Delish recipe thank you!

I've stored it for quite a long time- in a container placed inside a Ziplock bag. It seems the sugar helps preserve it for a while. Very handy when you run short & need a little extra! (For buttercream frostings, I've added the "leftover (brought to room temp)" between layers, works & tastes great!

This is one of the best & easiest frosting recipes I've made. I use lots of chocolate frostings, but THIS ONE IS ESPECIALLY GOOOD. A light, fluffy butter cream, yum!

This frosting was exactly what I was looking for. I didn't want something 'dark' in color and the longer you beat it, the lighter the color gets. Fluffy, tasty and a generous amount for frosting 24 cupcakes.

Kahala's icing was easy to make and great. I did cut down on the sugar as my family does not enjoy anything real sweet. I used 2 1/2 cups and will only use 1 tsp. of vanilla flavoring next time. A tablespoon was a little strong for us. Reminds me of the butter icing my Mother made for my birthday cake every year. Wonderful.

Thank you for the recipe, I've been using it since 8-8-2013! Everyone who has had this frosting loves it! Different cocoa powders give slightly different flavors and looks. In hotter weather use slightly less milk OR slightly more powdered sugar. For picnics or transporting, set cake container on frozen cooler (secure so won't tilt or slip) packs to help prevent melting. I'm using this recipe again today for a birthday cake - lovely swirls etc!
