“BEST MEATLOAF” IS IN:

BEST MEATLOAF
2 eggs
1/4 cup ketchup (Hunts)
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup minced onion
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. salt
1 cup soft breadcrumbs (optional)
2 to 3 lb. ground beef

Beat eggs in a large bowl. Blend in ketchup, water, minced onion, Worcestershire sauce, and salt. Mix in soft breadcrumbs if desired.

With a fork, mix ground beef with other ingredients. Mold into loaf and place on a rack in roaster or cake pan. Cover with foil and bake at 350°F for about an hour or until juices run clear and it's no longer pink inside (You may need to drain some of the liquid halfway through cooking time).

As soon as done, remove the foil and coat the top and sides of loaf with glaze (see below) and turn oven to broil. Watch it closely, and broil just until glaze starts to bubble. Remove from oven and serve.

Glaze:

ketchup (Hunts)
brown sugar
touch of honey

Mix together to form a thin paste.

Best Meatloaf

I made this last night. I was in the mood for a good meatloaf and had some ground chuck to use up. My son and my husband loved this meatloaf and my son (he's 4)can be a little picky. I added some garlic powder and salt and pepper to taste but kept everything else the same. I cooked one loaf and froze the other. This gets added to my recipe box and will for certain make it again. My significant other has always been ho hum about meatloaf until I fixed this one. He was like a commercial saying "WOW! What did you do to this meatloaf?". Now he requests it regularly. I should mention that I don't like to cook and don't have a knack for having an original thought about recipes. This recipe makes me feel like I should have my own cooking show. Just kidding!

I agree with sue above me here, it was a ton of fun preparing, I did feel like I was on a cooking show, and as for the taste its in the oven now, so if it is as good as it smelled preparing it this will be the best recipe so far I have found on this website, Thanks for sharing!!

This was a great recipe for meatloaf...simple and tasty. I didn't try the glaze, but the base recipe is super. I just changed a few things. I added a touch of garlic and pepper and used milk instead of water, because I think it makes the loaf more moist. I used italian bread crumbs, too...so cut the salt a pinch. It is definitely a keeper.

I hated meatloaf. I NEVER cooked it and mourned the loss of a good dinner if it was made. I am now A Huge FAN of meatloaf - this recipe specifically. There are plenty of homemade Worcestershire sauce recipes out their in case you forget to buy it. It really needs no other ingredients. It is purely amazing... my husband loved it too!
