BAKE - OFF ENTRY: ITALIAN CREAM
CAKE
 
2 c. sugar
1 stick butter
1/2 c. Crisco

5 egg yolks
2 c. flour
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. Angel Flake coconut

Fold in 5 beaten egg whites.

FROSTING:

1 (8 oz.) cream cheese
1 stick butter
1 box powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts

Bake in three 9 inch pans at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Cool and frost like a tart, just on top of the layers.
