RAISIN DATE BARS 
Filling (below)
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. oatmeal

Mix above as for pie crust. Press 1/2 inch 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Spread filling (below) over crust. Sprinkle remainder crumb mix over top. Bake 25-30 minutes in 400 degree oven.

FILLING:

1 1/2 c. raisins
1 1/2 c. cut up dates
1/4 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. water

Mix in saucepan, stirring heat to boiling until mixture thickens, approximately 10 minutes. Stir in 1/2 cup chopped nuts.
