ALA PILAF | |
2 tbsp. butter 1/2 c. celery, chopped 1 med. onion, chopped 1 c. Ala, uncooked (cracked wheat bulgur) 1/4 tsp. dill weed 1/4 tsp. oregano 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 2 c. beef or chicken bouillon 2 tbsp. chopped pepper 1 tbsp. parsley (optional) Melt butter in large skillet. Add Ala, stir until wheat begins to brown. Add vegetables, stir 2 minutes more. Add seasonings and bouillon, bring to boil. Cover, turn heat low, simmer 15 minutes until water is absorbed. Stir in pimiento and parsley just before serving. 4 servings. Variations: Other vegetables may be used. I use mixed frozen vegetables and also change to other seasonings. Also stir in meat, cooked chicken or ham. |
