When I was a little girl my parent's would make "GRAVY" as a special treat a couple of times a month. We were very very poor....they had 9 kids, I was the second to youngest....so "Gravy" was a special treat....it was like heaven on a plate. I have tried many times over the years to duplicate their recipe to no avail....I pray that this recipe will be the one that matches the one my parents made.

Grew up on the samething but mom added garlic powder then stirred in fried polka kielbasa and served with French bread. Made it tonight and I got very close.

I remember this at my grandmothers table. (they had 15 kids - they ate by turn according to age)... She usually had some type broth on hand and used it. Was excellent.

Am thinking beef broth ~ sliced corned beef (from can) shredded into this... with marinated onion on the side... Oh! Yes... good country meal.
