Another take on this for children is to layer as stated above in an 9x13 pan/dish. Buy white decorating frosting in the tube and draw a race track on the top of the cake and decorate with a few matchbox cars. It was a big hit :)

It was a hit! You can also use chocolate pudding instead of vanilla.

Or you can put each in a styrofoam cup for individual servings. Kids love that!

Freeze it to the point where it's an ice cream texture. It tastes sooooo good.

If you put this in cups for kids or a birthday party, it is cute to put gummy "worms" or gummy "bugs" into the dirt pudding.

Substitute golden oreos and use small sand pails to serve! Use little umbrellas and beachy looking stuff. Great hit with kids and adults too.

For a funny twist I made this in a small litter box with tootsie rolls and a litter scoop. Family loved the joke and said it was wonderful...

 Kari (Ohio) says:
Tasted great! We used vanilla Oreos instead of the chocolate ones and put it in a sand bucket. Another time I layered it in 8 oz. Ball jars so you could see the layers and topped it with the chocolate coated candy that looks like rocks.

 Annie (Michigan) says:
I use this recipe for family gatherings. I use a new clay flower pot. After washing it, I line the inside with foil, then prepare this recipe. On the top, I use the crushed oreo cookies. I also buy a long stem artificial flower, usually a sunflower and slide it in the middle. Chill and serve
